Ourika Valley and the Atlas Mountains
A Full day out with your own vehicle and driver.
Departing at 10am from your Riad. First visiting a local Berber market for as long or short a time as you wish, this is not a tourist market. It is where the locals shop, have there teeth dealt with, visit the Barbers and buy local produce.
From there you drive onto and through Ourika Valley which is very much "Indiana Jones" territory with dramatic views of the mountains. Stopping at the last Village in this valley called Setti Fatma. Here you can take some lunch (at your expense) before taking a guide ( Approx 200 MAD ) for a walk up to the water falls which are in several different stages. You may also see the wild monkeys and breathtaking mountain scenery.
On the way down the guide will take you around the village. Back to the driver for the return journey to Marrakech, en route visiting a local Berber House. Many are still made from baked mud bricks. Life is harsh for these mountain people and you will see a vast difference from City life to Country life.

In the past five years there has been a huge push to market Marrakech as a golfers paradise, there are now three golf courses within twenty minutes of the Riad that would rival some of the best courses in Europe and America, with fees less than half of comparable European clubs.
Unlike many of the courses in Europe the greens are not surrounded by buildings and Apartments, usually the only backdrop is the Atlas Mountains and Palm Trees.
Rates are in the region of 45 euros for 18 holes and 8 euros for a caddy. All major credit cards accepted. Winter hours are generally from 8am to 2pm daily and Summer from 8am to 7pm with some variations.
There are many large swimming pool complexes in and around Marrakech. Most are a short car journey from the centre and some up to 25 minutes by car from Riad Jonan. They all levy an entrance charge which ranges from 15 UK pounds and up. Some include a light snack lunch in the entrance fee others do not. Most of these pools include towels. So no need to pack them. There is a large water park called OASIRIA (OASIS) which has all the usual slides and looms you would expect of a European water park. Places to Sunbathe and many places to have lunch and snacks. Approx 15 minutes by car from the centre of Marrakech. Entrance charges varies, depending on full or half day ticket. PLAGE ROUGE Some say the largest pool in north Africa. With sunbeds all around the edge of the pool. Very trendy with music and a good restaurant. Very busy at week ends and during the summer months. We can give you up to date information when you arrive in Marrakech.
